The Precision Rain Sensor Pad Kit RSK-2296 is a restoration-grade adhesive pad set designed to secure, align, and protect windshield-mounted rain sensors. The kit restores reliable sensor contact with the glass, reduces vibration and noise, and prevents moisture intrusion that can compromise sensor performance. Pre-cut, weather-resistant materials ensure long-lasting adhesion and simple installation for technicians and DIYers alike—helping return automatic wiper systems to proper operation quickly and affordably.
Features:
- Pre-cut pad set designed for windshield-mounted rain sensors (RSK-2296).
- High-bond, weather-resistant adhesive foam for secure attachment and long-term durability.
- Helps prevent moisture ingress and reduces vibration for more accurate sensor readings.
- Peel-and-stick application for fast replacement or restoration without special adhesives.
- Resistant to UV, temperature extremes, and automotive cleaning chemicals.
- Ideal for restoring sensor mounting after windshield service or pad degradation.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 15-30 minutes (plus adhesive cure time)
Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the ignition. If your vehicle service manual recommends it, disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning.
- If needed for access, remove the rearview mirror or sensor module per the vehicle manufacturer's service instructions. Note: some vehicles require additional trim removal—refer to the service manual.
- Carefully remove the sensor module from the windshield or detach the old pad material. Use a plastic scraper or razor blade to remove residual adhesive; avoid scratching the glass.
- Thoroughly clean the mounting area on the windshield with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Allow the glass to dry completely.
- Dry-fit the new pad to confirm alignment. Remove backing from the adhesive pad and position it on the glass so the sensor will align correctly with the pad cutouts.
- Press the pad firmly into place, applying even pressure across the surface for 30 seconds to ensure good initial bond. Use masking tape to hold alignment if needed while installing the sensor.
- Reinstall the sensor module onto the new pad, ensuring correct orientation and secure attachment. Reinstall any removed mirror or trim pieces.
- Allow the adhesive to cure as recommended—avoid washing the windshield or exposing the area to heavy moisture for at least 1–24 hours depending on ambient conditions.
- Reconnect the battery if disconnected, power up the vehicle, and perform a functional check of the rain sensor/wiper system per the vehicle service procedure.
