Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a flat surface and remove any trim or windshield cowl panels that obstruct access to the side molding.
- Carefully pry up the old side molding using a trim removal tool; use pliers to remove any remaining clips or fasteners. Protect painted surfaces with tape if needed.
- Clean the mounting channel and pinch weld area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a mild cleaner to remove dirt, adhesive residue, and grease. Allow to dry.
- Inspect the mounting clips or retainers. Replace any corroded or broken clips with new corrosion-resistant fasteners if not supplied with the molding.
- Lightly lubricate the new molding channel with soapy water or a dedicated rubber lubricant to ease installation and prevent twisting.
- Align the new molding starting at one end of the windshield. Press the molding into the channel, working along the length and engaging clips or retainers as you go. Use consistent pressure to seat the molding evenly.
- If needed, apply gentle heat with a heat gun or hair dryer to make the molding more pliable for tight curves, taking care not to overheat or damage surrounding surfaces.
- Once fully seated, inspect the fit for gaps or uneven sections. Reinstall any removed cowl panels or trim pieces and verify the molding sits flush and secure.
- Test for water leaks and wind noise by running water over the windshield area or taking a short test drive; adjust as necessary.
