Precision Windshield Top Molding WFT D1349 is a top-of-windshield trim designed to seal and protect the upper glass edge while restoring the vehicle's finished appearance. The molding secures the windshield edge, helps prevent water intrusion and wind noise, cushions the glass against vibration, and protects the painted pinch-weld from wear. Built for long-term weather resistance and straightforward replacement, it’s ideal for restoration projects or routine maintenance where the factory top molding is damaged, stretched, or aged.
Features:
  • Durable weather-resistant rubber with a reinforced inner channel for a secure hold
  • Seals the top windshield edge to prevent leaks and reduce wind noise
  • Protects glass edge and body pinch-weld from corrosion and abrasion
  • Direct-replacement style for compatible factory top molding locations
  • Easy to install with basic trim tools; restores original appearance
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 20-45 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Plastic trim removal tool
  • Flat-blade screwdriver (protected with tape)
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Utility knife or razor
  • Isopropyl alcohol and clean cloths
  • Weatherstrip adhesive (optional)
  • Masking tape
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface and protect surrounding bodywork with tape or cloths.
  2. Carefully pry up one end of the old top molding using a plastic trim tool or a taped flat screwdriver; work slowly to avoid damaging the glass or paint.
  3. Remove any clips or retainers and pull the old molding away. Cut through any hardened adhesive if present and remove residual material with a utility knife.
  4. Clean the mounting channel and pinch-weld area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth. Remove all old adhesive, dirt, and sealant to ensure a good fit.
  5. Test-fit the new molding along the top edge to confirm orientation and fit. Trim the molding if needed to match the original length.
  6. If the molding uses separate clips, install them on the molding or channel per the molding style. Apply a light bead of weatherstrip adhesive inside the channel where recommended (use sparingly).
  7. Starting at the center of the windshield, press the molding into the channel and work outward toward each corner, ensuring the profile seats fully and evenly. Use a soft cloth to press the molding into place; a rubber mallet can be used gently if needed.
  8. Reinstall any trim pieces or retainers removed earlier. Wipe away excess adhesive immediately with solvent recommended by the adhesive manufacturer.
  9. Allow any adhesive to cure per the adhesive instructions (typically 30 minutes to several hours) before exposing the vehicle to water or high-speed driving. Inspect the seal and perform a water test if desired.
