Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip and any attached steel trim; carefully pry out old seal and trim using a trim tool to avoid damaging the channel.
- Clean the windshield flange and channel thoroughly with denatured alcohol or an appropriate solvent to remove adhesive, dirt, and old sealant. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip and steel trim (if installing trim) onto the windshield flange to confirm orientation and fit. Trim to length if necessary.
- Apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the flange or inside the seal channel as recommended by the adhesive manufacturer.
- Starting at the top center of the windshield, press the weatherstrip into the flange and work outward toward the corners, seating the seal fully into the channel. For seals with a trim groove, align and seat the steel molding into the groove simultaneously.
- Use masking tape to hold the seal in position and maintain contact while the adhesive sets. Tap gently with a rubber mallet where necessary to fully seat the seal without deforming it.
- Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately with a clean rag and solvent per the adhesive instructions.
- Allow the adhesive to cure for the time specified by the adhesive manufacturer (typically several hours to 24 hours) before removing tape and reassembling any remaining trim or glass components.
- Inspect the installed seal for uniform seating and perform a water test to confirm there are no leaks. Make any minor adjustments as needed.
