A direct-fit windshield weatherstrip seal designed for vehicles with steel windshield trim (fits all models except convertibles). This seal features an integrated trim groove to accept steel trim, creating a secure, weatherproof barrier that prevents water intrusion, wind noise, and vibration. Made from a durable rubber compound engineered to resist ozone, UV and temperature extremes, it restores proper windshield sealing and trim alignment for reliable, long-lasting performance while remaining simple to install during restoration or replacement projects.
Features:
- Fits all models except convertibles with steel windshield trim (WCR D646 style).
- Durable rubber compound with integrated trim groove to secure steel trim.
- Seals windshield to prevent water leaks, wind noise, and vibration.
- Resistant to ozone, UV and temperature extremes for long service life.
- Designed for restoration and replacement of worn or cracked weatherstripping.
- Simple trim-insert design for straightforward installation and alignment.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip and steel trim: pry trim away using a plastic trim tool and pull the old seal out of the channel.
- Clean the windshield flange and trim channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt and residue. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip around the windshield to confirm orientation and length; locate the trim groove so the steel trim will seat correctly.
- Apply a light coat of soapy water or rubber lubricant to the weatherstrip bulb and channel to ease installation and prevent twisting.
- Begin seating the seal at one corner of the windshield and work around the opening, pressing the seal firmly into the channel as you go. Use masking tape to hold sections in place if needed.
- Insert the steel trim into the weatherstrip’s trim groove, working in small sections and ensuring the trim seats fully against the glass and flange.
- Trim any excess weatherstrip material with a utility knife for a neat joint at the overlap; butt or lap ends per original configuration.
- Inspect the entire perimeter for gaps or mis-seated areas, press firmly to finalize seating, and allow any lubricant to evaporate before driving.
