A self-locking windshield weatherstrip engineered for convertible applications that use chrome trim inserted into body clips (WCR D647 A profile). This seal secures the chrome windshield molding while providing a watertight, vibration-damping barrier between glass, trim, and body. Constructed for long-term durability and accurate fit, it restores original alignment and helps prevent wind noise and water intrusion — a practical replacement for restoration or maintenance projects.
Features:
- Self-locking profile designed for convertible windshield openings with chrome trim that inserts into body clips (WCR D647 A).
- Durable rubber construction resists weathering, UV exposure, and compression set for long-lasting performance.
- Self-locking channel securely engages body clips to keep chrome trim aligned and fastened.
- Seals against water and reduces wind noise and vibration for improved cabin comfort.
- OEM-style profile restores original fit and appearance on restoration or replacement jobs.
- Easy to trim and seat for a clean, factory-like finish during installation.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Instructions:
- Inspect the windshield channel, chrome trim, and body clips; remove any loose trim pieces or damaged clips.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip and any remaining adhesive or debris from the channel using a trim tool and cleaner; ensure the surface is dry and free of rust.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the windshield to confirm orientation and length; trim excess material if required, leaving a small overlap for final seating.
- If the application calls for adhesive, apply a thin, even bead of recommended weatherstrip adhesive to the channel per adhesive instructions.
- Starting at the center of the lower windshield, align the seal with the body clips and press the self-locking channel into the clips, working outward toward each corner. Use a rubber mallet or firm hand pressure to seat the seal fully.
- Reinstall or align the chrome molding over the seal, ensuring it engages the trim properly and that the trim inserts into the weatherstrip as intended.
- Use masking tape to hold the seal and trim in position while adhesive cures (if used). Recheck clip engagement and trim alignment; adjust as necessary.
- Trim any excess material cleanly at the ends and inspect the full seal for gaps. Test for proper sealing by checking for snug fit and, if practical, perform a water test after adhesive cures.
