Hood-to-cowl replacement seal HS 3110 78 provides a durable, OEM-style barrier between the hood and cowl to prevent water, dirt and road debris from entering the cowl area. Made from weather-resistant EPDM rubber for long-lasting compression and UV resistance, this seal restores proper sealing and helps reduce wind noise and moisture-related corrosion in the engine bay and firewall. Designed as a direct-fit restoration part, it improves reliability and maintains correct hood closure while offering an easy, press-in installation.
Features:
- Constructed from weather-resistant EPDM rubber for long service life.
- Seals the gap between hood and cowl to prevent water, dirt and debris intrusion.
- Reduces wind noise and helps prevent moisture-related corrosion to cowl/firewall areas.
- OEM-style profile for accurate fit and correct hood alignment.
- Easy to install — press-in application with optional adhesive for added hold.
- Ideal for restoration or replacement projects to regain original sealing performance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 20-45 minutes
Instructions:
- Open the hood and support it securely.
- Carefully remove the old seal: use a trim tool or flat screwdriver to pry it out of the channel, taking care not to damage the painted surfaces.
- Clean the mounting channel thoroughly with a rag and solvent to remove old adhesive, dirt, and oils. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal along the cowl to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess if necessary.
- If using adhesive, apply a thin bead of automotive-grade adhesive to the channel per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
- Starting at one end, press the seal into the channel, working along the length and ensuring the seal seats fully into the flange. Use a rubber mallet or the palm of your hand to evenly seat the seal if needed.
- Close the hood slowly to verify proper clearance and alignment. Re-open and make minor adjustments if any interference is observed.
- Allow adhesive to cure as recommended before exposing the vehicle to moisture (if adhesive was used).
