Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and protect surrounding trim with masking tape or covers.
- Remove exterior trim and old weatherstrip or lockstrip carefully using plastic trim tools and pliers; cut and remove any remaining rubber from the channel with a utility knife.
- Clean the windshield channel and surrounding flange thoroughly with a suitable solvent to remove dirt, adhesive, and old sealant; allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip to confirm orientation and fit; note the position of the trim groove and lockstrip seating area.
- Apply a light coat of soapy water or rubber lubricant to the bulb and bead of the weatherstrip to ease installation; warm the seal with a heat gun if the weather is cold to increase flexibility.
- Begin seating the weatherstrip into the channel at one corner and work around the perimeter, pressing the bead firmly into the channel so the lockstrip area engages evenly.
- Ensure the trim groove aligns with the exterior molding; use pliers or a blunt tool to gently seat the trim into the groove where needed.
- Trim any excess material per the original specification and reinstall exterior moldings and trim pieces.
- Inspect the seal for uniform compression and gaps; allow any sealant or lubricant to set per manufacturer recommendations before driving.
