High-strength fuel tank mounting lock nuts engineered for restoring and securing fuel tanks on classic Mopar vehicles. Designed to replace worn or corroded original hardware on 1960–1976 Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth passenger cars and light trucks, these lock nuts provide reliable vibration resistance and long-lasting corrosion protection to keep tank straps and mounting assemblies tight through daily driving and show use. Durable, easy to install, and ideal for restoration projects and routine maintenance.
Features:
  • Fits 1960–1976 Mopar passenger cars and light trucks (Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth).
  • Made from high-strength steel with a corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Self-locking design resists vibration and loosening to keep fuel tanks securely mounted.
  • Direct replacement for original equipment hardware — ideal for restorations and repairs.
  • Simple installation with common hand tools; replaces worn or rusted factory nuts to restore safety and reliability.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Socket and ratchet set or wrench set
  • Torque wrench
  • Wood block or jack pad to protect tank
  • Safety glasses and gloves
Instructions:
  1. Work in a well-ventilated area on a level surface. Chock wheels, set the parking brake, and disconnect the vehicle negative battery cable to reduce electrical risk.
  2. Raise the rear (or front, as applicable) of the vehicle using a floor jack and secure with jack stands positioned under the chassis. Never rely on the jack alone.
  3. Place a floor jack with a wood block or pad under the fuel tank to support its weight. Do not lift yet — just ensure support is in place.
  4. Loosen and remove the mounting nuts from one fuel tank strap at a time. Lower the strap slightly with the tank supported by the jack so the tank doesn’t drop suddenly.
  5. Remove the old nuts and replace them with the new lock nuts. Thread them by hand to ensure proper engagement.
  6. Tighten the nuts snugly with a socket or wrench, then use a torque wrench to tighten to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque for fuel tank strap hardware.
  7. Repeat the procedure for any remaining straps. Once all lock nuts are installed and torqued, remove the jack supporting the tank and lower the vehicle.
  8. Reconnect the negative battery cable, inspect the tank and straps for proper fitment, and check for any signs of rubbing or interference during a short test drive.
