Instructions:
- Prepare vehicle: disconnect battery, raise and support vehicle if needed, and remove any trim, inner fender liners, or components obstructing access to the damaged panel.
- Assess and mark cut lines on the existing fender, ensuring you leave enough material for a proper butt joint or overlap per repair preference.
- Cut out the damaged section using an angle grinder or spot weld cutter; remove spot welds and clean the mating surfaces of rust, paint, and debris.
- Test-fit the replacement section, trim as necessary for even gaps and proper alignment with adjacent panels.
- Clamp or tack-weld the panel in multiple spots to verify fit and panel gaps before completing welds.
- Complete stitch or continuous welds as required, taking care to control heat to avoid warping; allow cooling between weld runs.
- Grind welds smooth and blend the joint area; apply seam sealer to sealed edges and seams where required.
- Treat bare metal with etch primer, apply body filler if needed, then prime and finish with matching topcoat.
- Reinstall inner liners, trim, and any removed components; inspect final fit and finish and perform any final adjustments.
- Safety note: welding and bodywork require proper protective equipment and ventilation. If unsure, consult or hire a professional body technician.
