Front lower ball joint designed for 1957–1983 Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge and Plymouth passenger cars and light trucks. This direct-fit replacement secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, providing precise suspension articulation, stable steering, and consistent wheel alignment. Built for durability and reliable performance, it restores original suspension geometry to reduce tire wear, steering play, and vibration.   • Socket and wrench set
  • Ball joint press or C-clamp with adapters
  • Hammer and punch
  • Torque wrench
  • Pry bar
  • Penetrating oil
  • Safety glasses and gloves
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the vehicle and secure it on jack stands; remove the wheel.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to nut and studs, then remove the cotter pin and castellated nut from the ball joint stud.
  4. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or by carefully striking the knuckle with a hammer while supporting the control arm.
  5. Support the lower control arm and remove any retaining bolts or circlips holding the ball joint in the control arm.
  6. Use a ball joint press or appropriate adapter and C-clamp to press out the old ball joint from the control arm.
  7. Clean the control arm bore and inspect for damage; replace the control arm if necessary.
  8. Press the new ball joint into the control arm to the specified depth; ensure it seats fully and any retaining features engage.
  9. Reinstall the control arm assembly and reconnect the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle; torque the castellated nut to factory specifications and install a new cotter pin.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
  11. Perform a front-end alignment after installation to ensure proper toe and camber settings.
