Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen lug nuts, lift vehicle with jack and secure on jack stands; remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer right-hand tie rod end connecting the steering knuckle to the inner tie rod; apply penetrating oil to fasteners if corroded.
- Loosen and remove the castle nut or retaining nut on the tie rod end stud using an appropriate wrench, but do not remove fully yet.
- Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod end puller or ball joint separator; once separated, remove the nut and pull out the tie rod end.
- Count or measure the number of turns to remove the tie rod end from the inner tie rod (or mark its position) to preserve alignment settings.
- Unscrew the old tie rod end from the inner tie rod and thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod the same number of turns or to the marked position.
- Insert the new tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, secure with the supplied nut, and torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification; install a new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, torque the lug nuts to specification, and perform a preliminary alignment check; professional wheel alignment is recommended after replacement.
