Front upper ball joint designed for 1960–1972 Dodge and Plymouth passenger cars. This replacement ball joint secures the upper control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper suspension geometry, steering control, and tire wear. Built for long-lasting performance, it restores original-fit handling and reduces play or vibration caused by worn components. Ideal for restoration projects and routine suspension maintenance, offering reliable durability and straightforward replacement to bring vintage vehicles back to safe, predictable operation.
Features:
- Fits 1960-1972 Dodge and Plymouth front upper, right and left hand applications.
- Durable construction with hardened stud and corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
- Restores proper steering geometry and reduces play, vibration, and uneven tire wear.
- Direct replacement design for factory fit and alignment, suitable for restoration work.
- Simple installation for mechanically inclined DIYers or professional technicians; replaces worn or damaged ball joints to improve safety and handling.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 60-120 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level surface, engage parking brake, and loosen lug nuts slightly.
- Raise front of vehicle with floor jack and secure on jack stands. Remove front wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to fasteners and allow to soak if corroded.
- Support the lower control arm with a jack or stand. Remove the cotter pin and castle nut (if present) from the ball joint stud.
- Use a ball joint separator or pickle fork to separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle. Take care to avoid damaging the knuckle.
- Unbolt or press out the old ball joint from the upper control arm per your vehicle’s construction (some units are pressed in, others are bolt-in). Clean the control arm mounting surface with a wire brush.
- Install the new ball joint into the upper control arm. If press-fit, use a ball joint press or appropriate press adapter. If bolt-in, align and secure with supplied hardware.
- Reconnect the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle and install the nut. Tighten to the factory-specified torque and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Check wheel alignment after installation; have a professional alignment performed if steering or tire wear issues persist.
