Adjusting sleeve designed for 1960–1990 Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth vehicles; available in right-hand and left-hand thread orientations to restore proper steering linkage length and toe adjustment. This threaded sleeve couples inner and outer tie rod sections (or other steering linkage components) to permit fine adjustment and secure clamping. Precision-machined threads and corrosion-resistant finish provide reliable fitment, long service life and consistent alignment settings during routine maintenance or full restorations. Ideal for replacing worn or corroded sleeves to eliminate play, reduce steering wander and ensure safe, predictable handling.
Features:
- Fits 1960–1990 Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth models (check application for right- or left-hand thread).
- Available in right-hand and left-hand thread orientations for correct steering linkage adjustment.
- Precision-machined threads for secure engagement and accurate toe adjustment.
- Durable, corrosion-resistant finish resists wear and environmental damage.
- Used to replace worn sleeves, eliminate play, and restore proper steering alignment.
- Straightforward installation supports restoration and routine maintenance applications.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes (per side)
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, chock rear wheels, loosen front lug nuts, then lift vehicle and support with jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end and adjusting sleeve threads if corroded; allow time to soak.
- Loosen the jam nut on the tie rod and separate the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod/removal tool or pickle fork.
- Record or measure the current length/position of the tie rod assembly to preserve alignment settings if possible.
- Unscrew and remove the old adjusting sleeve; clean mating threads on inner/outer tie rod sections.
- Install the new adjusting sleeve with the correct hand (right- or left-hand) and thread it to the measured position or until desired toe specification is approximated.
- Reinstall the outer tie rod end into the steering knuckle and tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification; secure jam nut against the sleeve.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
- Have a professional alignment performed or verify toe and steering geometry with proper tools before driving.
