Direct-replacement outer tie rod end for 1979-2003 Dodge and Plymouth vehicles (right or left hand). This steering linkage component secures the steering knuckle to the inner tie rod, maintaining proper alignment and responsive steering. Built for durability and reliable performance, it resists wear and helps reduce vibration and uneven tire wear. Designed for straightforward installation, it’s an ideal part for routine maintenance, restoration projects, or restoring safe steering on older Mopar cars and trucks.
Features:
  • Fits 1979–2003 Dodge and Plymouth models — right or left hand outer tie rod end.
  • Forged steel construction for strength and long service life.
  • Precision ball stud and tapered socket to maintain tight steering feel and correct alignment.
  • Greaseable fitting (where applicable) to extend service intervals and reduce wear.
  • Helps prevent uneven tire wear and steering vibration by restoring proper steering geometry.
  • Direct-replacement design for easy fitment during restoration or routine maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Lug wrench
  • Combination wrench set
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Hammer
  • Pliers
  • Marker or paint pen
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Grease gun (if greaseable)
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise vehicle with floor jack and secure with jack stands, then remove the front wheel.
  3. Locate the outer tie rod end attached to the steering knuckle; use a marker to note the position relative to the threaded inner tie rod to preserve alignment.
  4. Loosen and remove the castle nut or retaining nut on the tie rod end stud. Use a tie rod puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
  5. Count the number of threads or measure the length of exposed threads and unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns as the original to maintain toe setting.
  6. Install the new tie rod end by threading it onto the inner tie rod to the same position noted earlier. Insert the stud into the steering knuckle and secure with the provided nut; torque to factory specifications and install cotter pin if required.
  7. If equipped with a grease fitting, apply grease using a grease gun until fresh grease appears at the boot.
  8. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to manufacturer spec.
  9. Test drive at low speed to check steering feel. Have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure proper toe and extend tire life.
