Front lower ball joint (right/left) designed for 1983–2010 Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth vehicles. This suspension component secures the control arm to the steering knuckle, allowing for smooth pivoting and accurate wheel alignment while resisting wear. Built with a knurled housing and pinch-bolt retention for a secure, anti-rotation fit, it replaces worn or damaged joints to restore steering precision, reduce vibration, and improve tire wear. Durable materials and a sealed joint design provide long service life and reliable performance for restoration and maintenance projects.

  • Punch or drift (for pinch bolt)
  • C-clamp or ball joint press (if required by vehicle)
  • Penetrating oil
  • Safety glasses and gloves
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, chock rear wheels, loosen front lug nuts, then raise vehicle and secure on jack stands. Remove wheel.
  2. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners and allow to soak. Remove any brake caliper or rotor components as needed to access the ball joint and control arm.
  3. Support the lower control arm with a jack or stand to relieve suspension load.
  4. Remove the pinch bolt (if present) or the retaining hardware securing the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint separator or pickle fork to disengage the ball stud from the knuckle.
  5. If the ball joint is pressed in, use a C-clamp style press or suitable ball joint press to remove the old unit. For knurled/pinch-bolt designs, the joint may slide out once retaining hardware is removed.
  6. Clean the control arm bore and inspect for damage or excessive wear. Remove burrs and apply anti-seize to the housing if recommended.
  7. Install the new ball joint into the control arm, aligning knurling if applicable. Insert and hand-tighten the pinch bolt or retaining fasteners to hold the joint in place.
  8. Reattach the steering knuckle to the ball stud and torque the nut to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification. Tighten the pinch bolt to spec to ensure anti-rotation retention.
  9. Reassemble any removed brake components, reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
  10. Check and confirm correct torque on all suspension fasteners. A professional wheel alignment is recommended after replacing front ball joints.
