Front lower ball joint (right or left) designed for 1991–2000 Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth vehicles. This ball joint replaces worn or damaged lower control arm pivots and restores safe steering and suspension geometry. Engineered for a secure press-fit and proper articulation, it features a hardened stud and protective boot to resist wear and contamination. Ideal for restoration or routine maintenance, this part improves handling, reduces steering play, and extends the service life of the front suspension.

  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket set (including 14mm socket)
  • Torque wrench
  • Ball joint press or C-clamp ball joint tool
  • Breaker bar
  • Pry bar
  • Hammer or pickle fork (optional for separation)
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Wire brush and anti-seize (optional)
  • Grease gun (if ball joint is greaseable)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then raise the vehicle with a floor jack and securely support on jack stands.
  3. Remove the front wheel to access the lower control arm and ball joint.
  4. Locate and remove the 14mm pinch bolt or nut securing the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle; retain hardware if reusing or replace as needed.
  5. Use a ball joint separator or pickle fork to separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle. Take care to avoid damage to the knuckle and surrounding components.
  6. Secure the lower control arm and use a ball joint press to press out the old ball joint from the control arm housing. Clean the control arm bore with a wire brush.
  7. Press the new ball joint into the control arm until fully seated. Ensure orientation matches the original part and the boot is not twisted or pinched.
  8. Install the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle and fit the 14mm pinch bolt or nut. Torque hardware to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications.
  9. If applicable, grease the ball joint through the zerk fitting until boot bulges slightly (do not overfill).
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification. Test-drive carefully and recheck torque on pinch bolt and lug nuts after initial miles. Perform alignment if required.
