Front lower ball joint for 1994-2008 Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz vehicles, designed to secure the lower control arm to the steering knuckle and maintain proper suspension geometry. This replacement part restores safe steering and suspension operation by providing a durable, precision-machined pivot point that withstands road loads and reduces play. Constructed from hardened steel with a protective finish and a sealed grease boot, it helps prevent contamination and premature wear. Ideal for restoring handling, eliminating noise and vibration, and maintaining alignment on compatible Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz models.
Features:
- Fits 1994-2008 Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz models (front lower, left or right hand)
- Hardened steel construction for long-lasting strength and load resistance
- Sealed grease boot prevents dirt and moisture intrusion to extend life
- Replaces worn or loose ball joints to restore steering precision and reduce vibration
- Direct-fit replacement for OE-style installation during suspension restoration or repair
- Easy to install with common suspension tools; suitable for DIY mechanics and professional shops
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1-2 hours per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to fasteners on the lower ball joint and related suspension components.
- Remove cotter pin and nut from the tie rod end and/or ball joint stud if applicable.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork. Be careful not to damage the knuckle.
- Unbolt the lower control arm-to-frame fasteners as needed to gain access, or use a ball joint press to push out the old ball joint from the control arm if press-fit.
- Remove the old ball joint and clean mating surfaces. Inspect control arm and knuckle for wear or damage.
- Install the new ball joint into the control arm or knuckle. If press-fit, use a ball joint press to seat it fully. If bolted, align and insert bolts.
- Reattach the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle and tighten the nut to the manufacturer's torque specification. Install a new cotter pin if required.
- Reassemble any removed components, torque all fasteners to factory specs, reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts.
- After installation, check alignment and get a professional wheel alignment if necessary to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
