Inner tie rod end for 1998–2004 Chrysler and Dodge vehicles, engineered to connect the steering rack to the outer tie rod and enable precise wheel alignment. This replacement inner tie rod end restores steering feel and stability by maintaining correct toe settings and reducing play in the steering system. Constructed for durability and reliable performance under daily driving conditions, it’s suitable for restoring worn steering components and improving safety and handling.
Features:
  • Fits 1998-2004 Chrysler and Dodge models — inner tie rod end, right and left hand applications.
  • Durable steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Restores proper steering geometry and reduces play for improved handling and tire wear.
  • Precision-machined ball stud and tapered thread for secure fit and reliable steering response.
  • Direct-fit replacement for factory specifications; ideal for restoration or routine maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • jack and jack stands or vehicle lift
  • 18mm/21mm wrenches or sockets (sizes may vary by model)
  • adjustable wrench
  • torque wrench
  • inner tie rod removal tool or adjustable pliers
  • hammer and punch (for cotter pins)
  • tie rod separator (pickle fork) or puller
  • grease and shop rags
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle and support securely on jack stands; remove the front wheel.
  3. Locate the inner tie rod end at the steering rack and remove any steering rack boots or clamps to access the tie rod.
  4. Loosen and remove the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle (remove cotter pin and castle nut if present) and note the number of turns required to remove to preserve alignment as a reference.
  5. Use a tie rod separator to disconnect the outer tie rod from the knuckle, then unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod.
  6. Use an inner tie rod tool or suitable adjustable pliers to unscrew and remove the old inner tie rod from the steering rack.
  7. Compare new and old parts to confirm match, apply thread locker or grease per vehicle spec if recommended, and thread the new inner tie rod into the rack to the same depth as the original or to factory specification. Torque to manufacturer specs.
  8. Reassemble the outer tie rod onto the new inner tie rod to the original turn count to approximate alignment, reconnect to the steering knuckle, and torque fasteners to spec. Install new cotter pin if applicable.
  9. Reinstall steering rack boot and clamps, re-fit the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque wheel lug nuts to spec.
  10. Because inner tie rod replacement affects alignment, have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper toe and tire wear.
