Adjusting sleeve designed to connect the pitman arm to the connecting tie rod on left-hand thread steering assemblies for 1999–2019 Dodge, Ford and Ram trucks. This heavy-duty sleeve provides precise length adjustment for correct wheel alignment and helps eliminate steering play. Built for durability and corrosion resistance, it restores factory steering geometry and secures the tie rod end to the pitman arm for reliable, long-lasting performance.
Features:
- Fitment: 1999–2019 Dodge / Ford / Ram models with left-hand thread pitman arm to connecting tie rod assemblies.
- Left-hand threaded adjusting sleeve for correct orientation with factory steering components.
- High-strength steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
- Allows fine length adjustment to achieve proper wheel alignment and restore steering geometry.
- Helps eliminate steering play, vibration and uneven tire wear.
- Simple replacement part for restoration or repair of worn or damaged tie rod linkages.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels. Raise the front of the vehicle and support securely on jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel on the side to be serviced for access to the steering linkage.
- Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end and pitman arm connection. Loosen the jam nut on the tie rod and unthread the tie rod end from the sleeve if present.
- Separate the tie rod end from the pitman arm using a tie rod puller or pickle fork. Take care not to damage the tie rod boot or surrounding components.
- Remove the old adjusting sleeve (if present) and compare thread direction and length to ensure the new left-hand sleeve matches factory specification.
- Thread the new adjusting sleeve onto the tie rod or pitman arm as required. Adjust to approximate length using measurements from the removed part or vehicle service manual.
- Reattach the tie rod end to the pitman arm and tighten to manufacturer torque specification using a torque wrench. Tighten the jam nut to secure the adjustment.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Because small length variations affect alignment, have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper toe settings and tire wear prevention.
