Front lower ball joint for 2000-2001 Dodge Ram 1500, designed to replace worn or damaged joints and restore safe, predictable steering and suspension performance. This heavy-duty replacement ball joint secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper wheel alignment and reducing play that causes uneven tire wear, steering wander, and suspension noise. Built for durability and reliability, it is ideal for restoration, routine maintenance, or performance-minded repairs.
Features:
- Fits 2000-2001 Dodge Ram 1500 (front lower, right or left side)
- Heavy-duty construction for long service life and consistent performance
- Restores steering precision and reduces suspension play and vibration
- Prevents uneven tire wear and improves vehicle safety and handling
- Direct-fit replacement for simple swap-in installation on compatible trucks
- Sealed design or grease fitting options (verify part specifics) for low maintenance
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-120 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the front of the truck with a floor jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to nuts and bolts on the lower control arm and ball joint; allow time to soak.
- Remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the tie rod end and separate the tie rod end from the knuckle if necessary to gain access.
- Support the lower control arm with a jack or stand, then remove the lower control arm-to-knuckle fasteners and separate the control arm from the steering knuckle.
- Use a ball joint press or appropriate puller to press out the old ball joint from the lower control arm. Clean and inspect the control arm bore for damage.
- Position the new ball joint into the control arm and press it in using the ball joint press, ensuring it is fully seated and oriented correctly.
- Reassemble the control arm to the steering knuckle and torque all fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications. Install the castle nut and secure with a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reattach any separated components (tie rod end, sway bar links), reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- After installation, check wheel alignment and road-test the vehicle to verify steering and suspension performance; adjust alignment as needed.
