Inner tie rod end (right/left hand) for 2000-2002 Dodge trucks and midsize pickups — a direct-fit steering component that secures the inner steering linkage to the rack and helps maintain precise wheel alignment. This replacement part restores steering feel, reduces play, and prevents uneven tire wear. Made from hardened alloy with corrosion-resistant finish and a durable ball joint for long service life. Ideal for steering system repair, maintenance, or restoration projects where dependable, road-ready performance is required.
Features:
- Fits 2000-2002 Dodge Ram and Dakota models (verify exact fitment for your VIN and steering rack configuration).
- Inner tie rod end serves as the connection between the steering rack and outer tie rod, maintaining alignment and steering precision.
- Hardened alloy construction with corrosion-resistant coating for long-lasting durability.
- Sealed ball joint design helps prevent contamination and reduces premature wear.
- Sold as inner tie rod end for right or left hand application; restores steering play and improves handling.
- Direct-replacement part suitable for repair, maintenance, or vehicle restoration.
- Straightforward installation for experienced DIYers or professional technicians.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, lift vehicle with a jack, and secure on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Locate the inner tie rod and the steering rack boot. Use pliers or screwdriver to loosen and remove the boot clamps and slide the boot back to expose the inner tie rod.
- Mark the position or count the threads on the tie rod relative to the outer tie rod (or measure distance) to preserve alignment reference.
- Remove the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork if needed (do not damage threads).
- Loosen and remove the inner tie rod lock nut or retaining fastener at the rack, then unscrew the inner tie rod from the steering rack using an appropriate inner tie rod tool or wrench.
- Compare the new inner tie rod to the old unit to ensure correct length and thread pattern. Install the new inner tie rod by threading it into the rack to the marked position or measured thread count.
- Reassemble the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and torque to manufacturer specifications. Reinstall the rack boot and secure clamps.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification. Repeat for the other side if replacing both.
- Because steering geometry can change during replacement, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation.
