Inner tie rod end (right/left hand) designed to restore precise steering geometry and secure the connection between the steering rack and outer tie rod on 2000-2004 Dodge Ram trucks. Built to replace worn or damaged inner tie rod ends, this component helps eliminate play in the steering, reduce vibration, and improve vehicle tracking and tire wear. Constructed from hardened steel with corrosion-resistant finishes and a durable ball stud/boot assembly, it provides reliable, long-lasting performance for steering system restoration and routine maintenance.
Features:
- Fitment: 2000-2004 Dodge Ram 1500 / 2500 / 3500 (verify OEM part number for exact application)
- Direct replacement inner tie rod end for right or left hand steering linkage
- Hardened steel construction for strength and long service life
- Protective boot seals the ball joint to prevent contaminants and retain grease
- Restores steering precision, reduces play and uneven tire wear
- Corrosion-resistant finish for improved durability in road conditions
- Easy installation for mechanics and DIYers during steering or front-end repairs
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-120 minutes
Instructions:
- Safely raise the vehicle and support it with jack stands; remove the front wheel on the side being serviced.
- Locate the inner tie rod at the steering rack and apply penetrating oil to fasteners as needed.
- Mark the position of the outer tie rod on the adjusting sleeve to preserve alignment, or measure the length of the tie rod assembly.
- Loosen and remove the nut securing the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle; use a tie rod puller or pickle fork to separate the joint.
- Loosen the jam nut on the adjusting sleeve and unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod, counting turns or noting alignment marks.
- Remove any retaining fastener or clamp securing the inner tie rod to the steering rack and unscrew the inner tie rod from the rack.
- Compare the new inner tie rod to the removed part to confirm correct orientation and thread polarity (right/left hand).
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it into the steering rack to the specified engagement depth; tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification and install any retaining hardware.
- Reinstall the outer tie rod to the adjusting sleeve using the measured turn count or alignment marks; tighten the jam nut.
- Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and torque the castle nut to specification; install a new cotter pin if required.
- Grease the joint if the part includes a grease fitting, lower the vehicle, and perform a steering responsiveness check.
- Have a certified alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure proper toe settings and prevent tire wear.
