Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, jack up the vehicle and secure on jack stands, then remove the front wheel.
- Locate the inner tie rod end on the steering rack and apply penetrating oil to mounting hardware if necessary.
- Loosen and remove the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle (note or mark the position for alignment reference).
- Use a tie rod puller or pickle fork to separate the outer tie rod end from the knuckle.
- Unscrew and remove the inner tie rod end from the steering rack (some models require removal of a locking tab or retaining clip first).
- Install the new inner tie rod end by threading it onto the rack to the marked/approximate original position; tighten to manufacturer torque specifications.
- Reattach the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle and torque the nut to specification; install new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
