Inner tie rod end designed for 2002–2006 Dodge / Freightliner applications. This part secures the inner side of the steering linkage to the rack or center link, maintaining precise steering alignment and smooth, responsive handling. Built to resist wear and handle road stress, it restores proper steering geometry and reduces play, vibration, and uneven tire wear. Durable construction and a direct-fit design make it a reliable replacement for worn or damaged inner tie rod ends during routine maintenance or restoration projects.
Features:
- Fits 2002–2006 Dodge / Freightliner models (inner tie rod end, right or left hand)
- Direct-fit replacement for worn or damaged inner tie rod ends to restore steering precision
- High-strength construction resists wear, bending, and road shock for long service life
- Sealed joint or protective boot helps keep contaminants out and extend component life
- Helps eliminate steering play, reduce vibration, and prevent uneven tire wear
- Easy installation with common hand tools; suitable for repair, maintenance, or restoration
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the vehicle with a jack, and secure with jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Apply penetrating oil to the inner and outer tie rod joints and let soak if corroded.
- Mark the position of the outer tie rod on the threaded shaft (or measure distance to a reference) to preserve alignment.
- Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod and disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork.
- Count the number of exposed threads or note the position so you can reinstall the outer tie rod to the same length.
- Loosen and remove the inner tie rod retaining nut(s) or clamp(s), then remove the inner tie rod from the rack using the appropriate inner tie rod removal tool or by hand if accessible.
- Compare the new inner tie rod to the old part to ensure correct fitment, then thread the new inner tie rod into the rack and torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification.
- Reinstall the outer tie rod to the same thread engagement or measured length and tighten the jam nut to specification.
- Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and torque the castle nut or fastener to spec; install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
