Front lower ball joint designed for 2013–2022 Ram trucks, this sealed unit features a low-friction POM (polyoxymethylene) bearing for precise steering and long service life. It secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper suspension geometry while resisting wear and contamination thanks to a sealed design and corrosion-resistant finish. Engineered as a direct-fit replacement to restore factory handling, reduce play, and improve steering response, this durable ball joint is ideal for routine maintenance or full suspension restoration.
Features:
- Fits 2013–2022 Ram trucks (check specific model & OEM part cross-reference for compatibility).
- Sealed design with POM (polyoxymethylene) bearing for low friction and smooth articulation.
- Direct-fit replacement for front lower right or left hand ball joint — restores factory steering geometry.
- Resists contamination and corrosion with a sealed assembly and protective coating.
- Reduces play and vibration, improving handling, safety, and tire wear.
- Easy-to-install unit intended for suspension repair or restoration projects.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-120 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake and block rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then lift the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to the ball joint nut and any fasteners; allow to soak if corroded.
- Remove any retaining cotter pin and loosen and remove the castle nut or ball joint nut from the lower ball joint stud.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or suitable puller. Support the knuckle to avoid damaging brake lines or CV boots.
- If required, unbolt the lower control arm from the subframe or sway bar link to gain clearance for ball joint removal.
- Use a ball joint press or removal tool to press out the old ball joint from the control arm. Follow tool manufacturer instructions to avoid damage.
- Clean the control arm bore, inspect for damage or excessive wear, and replace the control arm if necessary.
- Press the new sealed POM-bearing ball joint into the control arm until fully seated. Verify orientation (right/left) before installation.
- Reinstall the control arm and/or knuckle, insert the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle, and torque the ball joint nut to the vehicle manufacturer's specification. Install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reattach any components removed, torque all fasteners to spec, remount the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Perform a test drive to confirm steering and suspension operation. Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
