Instructions:
- Open the front door fully and locate the old upper weatherstrip.
- Carefully pry out the old seal starting at one end using a trim tool or taped flathead screwdriver, removing any retaining clips if present.
- Clean the door channel and mating surface thoroughly to remove old adhesive, dirt, and silicone. Wipe with rubbing alcohol and allow to dry.
- Compare the new seal (DWB 6111 84) to the removed piece to confirm orientation (left/right) and length.
- If adhesive is recommended, apply a thin bead into the channel sparingly. Otherwise, align the new seal at the hinge end.
- Press the new weatherstrip into the door channel, working along the length and seating the bulb portion fully into the groove. Use fingers or a trim tool to ensure the seal is fully engaged.
- Ensure corners and ends are seated correctly; trim any excess material with scissors or a utility knife for a neat finish.
- If adhesive was used, secure the seal in place with masking tape as needed and allow adhesive to cure per manufacturer instructions.
- Close the door slowly to check for proper fit and alignment; adjust seating if you notice gaps or binding.
- Recheck after a short test drive and reseat if necessary to ensure a watertight, noise-reducing seal.
