Instructions:
- Park on level ground, turn off engine and open the hood fully; prop the hood securely.
- Locate and remove the old cowl seal: pry out retaining clips or gently peel away adhesive-backed sections. Use pliers for stubborn clips.
- Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces on the hood and cowl with isopropyl alcohol or mild cleaner to remove dirt, oil and old adhesive residue. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal along the hood-to-cowl mating area to confirm orientation and fit before final installation.
- If the new seal or vehicle requires adhesive, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mating surface following the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
- Starting at the center, press the new seal into place and work outward toward each end, ensuring the seal seats fully into any channels or against the hood edge. Reinstall any retaining clips as needed.
- Trim any excess material only if necessary, using a sharp utility knife for a clean edge.
- Close the hood slowly and check for proper clearance and an even seal. Perform a quick water test (spray the cowl area) to confirm no leaks or gaps.
