Instructions:
- Open tailgate and support it in the open position for safe access.
- Carefully pry out and remove the old lower tailgate seal using a trim tool or flathead screwdriver; remove any retaining clips if present.
- Clean the sealing channel and surrounding area thoroughly with a rag and mild cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to remove dirt, old adhesive, and grease. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal along the channel to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess length with a utility knife or scissors if necessary.
- If recommended or desired, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive into the channel or to the seal mounting surface for added retention.
- Press the new seal firmly into the channel, starting at one end and working to the other, ensuring it seats fully and evenly. Reinstall any retaining clips if applicable.
- Close and open the tailgate several times to confirm proper fit and that the seal does not bind. Make minor adjustments as needed.
- Allow any adhesive to cure per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions before subjecting the seal to heavy loads or wet conditions.
