Precision Vent Glass Weatherstrip Seal (VWL 3710 68) is a left-hand vent window seal engineered to restore a tight, weatherproof fit for classic Volkswagen vent glass. Designed to replace worn or cracked seals, it prevents water intrusion, reduces wind noise and rattles, and protects interior trim from moisture damage. Constructed from durable, high-quality EPDM rubber with an OEM-style profile, it delivers reliable longevity and a near-original fit for 1968 VW applications, making it an essential part for restoration and maintenance projects.
Features:
- Fits 1968 Volkswagen Beetle left-hand vent window (VWL 3710 68).
- Made from durable EPDM rubber for long-lasting weather resistance and flexibility.
- Seals vent glass to prevent water leaks, wind noise, and interior damage.
- OEM-style profile for accurate fitment and proper glass alignment.
- Easy to install with basic hand tools; ideal for restorations and replacements.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30–45 minutes
Instructions:
- Remove the interior door panel or access cover to expose the vent window assembly.
- Carefully loosen or remove the vent window pivot screws and any retaining clips to access the old seal (support the vent glass while doing this).
- Gently remove the old weatherstrip from the vent frame and channel; use a trim tool or pliers if needed.
- Clean the channel and mating surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt, and debris. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal on the vent glass/frame to confirm orientation and fit before final installation.
- Apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive into the channel if desired for a permanent hold, or lubricate the seal and channel with silicone spray or soapy water for easier installation and future removal.
- Starting at one end, press the new weatherstrip into the channel, working around the frame and ensuring the seal seats evenly without twists or gaps. Use a small block or gloved thumb to press it firmly into place.
- Reinstall the vent glass assembly, tighten pivot screws and any retaining clips, and check for smooth operation and correct glass alignment.
- Reinstall the door panel or access cover and perform a water/fog test or road check to ensure there are no leaks or wind noise.
