Instructions:
- Prepare workspace and wear safety gear. If removing an existing windshield, protect interior and trim.
- Remove the old weatherstrip and any remaining adhesive, carefully cleaning the pinch weld and the edge of the glass with isopropyl alcohol. Ensure surfaces are dry and free of debris.
- Test-fit the new seal on the windshield and vehicle pinch weld to confirm orientation and fit. Trim excess if necessary, leaving enough material at ends for proper overlap.
- Apply a light film of silicone lubricant or soapy water to the bulb and groove to ease seating. Do not use petroleum-based products that can degrade the rubber.
- Position the seal onto the windshield or pinch weld depending on the installation method. Start at the top center and work outward and downward, aligning the trim groove with the glass edge.
- If using a lockstrip, carefully insert it into the trim groove, starting at one end and working to the other. Use a lockstrip insertion tool or a soft mallet and a small block to avoid pinching the seal.
- Seat the seal fully around the windshield, ensuring uniform compression and no gaps. Trim any excess material with a utility knife so the ends meet cleanly.
- Inspect the perimeter for uniform contact and proper engagement of the lockstrip. Allow any recommended sealing compounds to cure per their instructions before driving.
- Reinstall any trim molding and clean the glass. Check for leaks after a test wash and road test at low speeds to confirm secure fit.
