The Precision Windshield Weatherstrip Seal Without Trim Groove WBL 461 is a direct-fit replacement gasket engineered to seal the windshield flange where no trim groove is present. Molded from durable EPDM rubber, it creates a watertight, weather-resistant barrier that prevents leaks, reduces wind noise and vibration, and helps protect interior surfaces from water damage and road grime. Designed for applications that require a seal without a trim groove, this part is ideal for restoration projects and routine maintenance on many classic and late-model vehicles. The resin-resistant compound maintains flexibility and shape over time for long-lasting reliability and a factory-style finish.
Features:
  • Molded EPDM rubber for durable, weather-resistant sealing.
  • Designed specifically for windshield flanges without a trim groove; ideal for restoration and replacement projects.
  • Prevents water intrusion, reduces wind noise and vibration, and protects interior trim.
  • Flexible compound resists shrinkage, cracking and UV degradation for long service life.
  • Easy to trim and seat for a clean, factory-style appearance.
  • Part number WBL 461 — engineered for consistent fit and reliable performance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30–60 minutes (vehicle-dependent)
Suggested Tools:
  • Plastic trim removal tool
  • Putty knife or gasket scraper
  • Rubbing alcohol or adhesive cleaner
  • Lint-free cloths
  • Weatherstrip adhesive (if required)
  • Rubber mallet and wooden block or roller
  • Utility knife or sharp scissors
  • Masking tape
  • Gloves
  • Protective eyewear
Instructions:
  1. Confirm part number WBL 461 and verify the seal profile matches the vehicle flange before beginning.
  2. Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake and wear gloves and eye protection.
  3. Remove the old weatherstrip: use a plastic trim tool and putty knife to pry up the old seal. Cut and remove any stubborn sections with a utility knife. If the windshield must be removed, consult a professional—this guide assumes only weatherstrip replacement.
  4. Thoroughly clean the windshield flange and surrounding channel with a suitable adhesive cleaner or rubbing alcohol; remove all old adhesive, dirt, and debris. Allow the surface to dry completely.
  5. Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the flange to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess material with a utility knife or scissors if necessary, cutting slowly to maintain a neat edge.
  6. If the application calls for adhesive, apply a thin, continuous bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the flange per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions. Many installations can be seated without adhesive; use adhesive only where recommended.
  7. Starting at the top center of the windshield, press the weatherstrip onto the flange and work outward toward each corner, seating the seal fully into the channel. Use a rubber mallet and wooden block or a roller to evenly press the gasket into place without damaging the material.
  8. Secure and smooth any trimmed ends, and use masking tape to hold the seal if needed while adhesive cures.
  9. Allow adhesive to cure for the manufacturer’s recommended time (if used). After curing, inspect the seal for uniform fit and check for gaps. Test for leaks by gently spraying water around the perimeter and checking the interior for penetration.
  10. If you encounter fitment issues, extensive corrosion, or the windshield must be removed, have the job completed by an experienced auto glass technician to ensure a proper seal and safe windshield seating.
