Rear window self-locking weatherstrip seal designed for 2- and 4-door sedan rear glass applications that use chrome trim inserted into body clips. Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and protect painted areas with masking tape or covers.
- Carefully remove the outer chrome trim that inserts into the body clips. Use a trim tool to pry at clip locations to avoid scratching trim or paint.
- Peel out the old weatherstrip seal and remove any remaining adhesive or residue from the lip and channel using rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth. Inspect body clips and replace any broken clips.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip to check orientation and length. Trim excess material as needed so ends meet with a snug, gap-free joint.
- If adhesive is recommended for your vehicle, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel per adhesive instructions. Otherwise, align the new seal and press it into the channel starting at one corner and working around the perimeter.
- Seat the seal fully by pressing along its length and using a rubber mallet or block of wood to gently tap the chrome trim back into the body clips, ensuring the self-locking lip engages and the trim seats evenly.
- Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately and allow adhesive to cure if used. Re-check all clips and trim for secure fit and ensure the glass is properly sealed.
- Test for leaks by gently spraying water over the sealed area or using a garden hose; re-seat or add adhesive where necessary.
