Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 60-120 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and wear safety gloves and eye protection.
- Carefully remove the old windshield molding: use a plastic trim tool to pry out the molding and a flat screwdriver or pliers to remove retaining clips.
- Clean the windshield channel and surrounding flange thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt, and debris.
- Inspect the channel and replacement clips; replace any corroded or damaged clips with those supplied in the kit or new clips.
- Lightly lubricate the new molding channel with weatherstrip lubricant or soapy water to aid installation.
- Position the new molding at one corner of the windshield and work it into the channel, pressing the molding into place and engaging retainers evenly along the perimeter. Use a rubber mallet gently if needed to seat clips.
- Trim any excess material if necessary and ensure corners and transitions are seated flush with the windshield flange.
- Wipe off any lubricant residue and allow the assembly to settle. Test for proper seating and check for water intrusion after a wash or light spray.
