A direct-fit rear window weatherstrip engineered for 1964–1968 American Motors American 2-door hardtop models. This OEM-style seal features a precision-molded rubber profile with an integrated trim groove designed to accept the factory steel exterior molding, restoring original fit and finish. It provides a watertight barrier to prevent leaks, reduce wind noise, protect interior trim from moisture damage, and hold the glass securely in the channel. Constructed from durable, UV- and ozone-resistant rubber compound, the seal offers long-term reliability and an authentic appearance for restoration or replacement projects.
Features:
  • Fits 1964–1968 American Motors American 2-door hardtop models (rear window).
  • Molded rubber weatherstrip with OEM-style profile for correct fit and sealing.
  • Integrated trim groove accommodates factory steel exterior trim/molding.
  • Prevents water intrusion, reduces wind noise, and protects interior trim.
  • Made from durable, UV- and ozone-resistant rubber for long service life.
  • Ideal for restorations and like-for-like replacement of aging or damaged seals.
  • Easy to install with basic tools; can be installed using lubricant or adhesive where required.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 45 minutes to 1.5 hours
Suggested Tools:
  • Plastic trim removal tool
  • Flat and Phillips screwdrivers
  • Clean rags or microfiber cloths
  • Isopropyl alcohol or solvent cleaner
  • Soapy water or silicone spray (installation lubricant)
  • Weatherstrip adhesive (optional, contact cement style)
  • Small rubber mallet or wooden block
  • Masking tape
  • Gloves
Instructions:
  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and protect surrounding interior and exterior surfaces with cloths or masking tape.
  2. Remove any interior trim, molding, or clips that obstruct access to the rear window weatherseal according to vehicle specifics.
  3. Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: peel away the seal and remove any remaining rubber, adhesive, or corrosion from the flange.
  4. Thoroughly clean the window flange and surrounding area with isopropyl alcohol or an approved cleaner; allow to dry.
  5. Test-fit the new weatherstrip around the window opening without lubricant to verify orientation and to locate the trim groove for the steel molding.
  6. Apply a thin bead of soapy water or silicone spray inside the seal channel to ease installation; if a permanent hold is desired, apply weatherstrip adhesive per manufacturer instructions to mating surfaces (use sparingly).
  7. Starting at the top center, press the new seal into the flange and work outward and down both sides, using a plastic trim tool or a protected wooden block and mallet to seat the seal evenly. Ensure the trim groove aligns with the steel molding location.
  8. Reinstall the exterior steel trim/molding into the groove and secure any clips or fasteners. If adhesive was used, wipe excess and allow recommended cure time.
  9. Reinstall any interior trim pieces removed earlier, inspect the seal for gaps, and perform a water test (gentle hose spray) to confirm there are no leaks.
