The Precision Windshield Top Molding WFT D1198 is an OE-style top windshield trim designed to protect and secure the upper edge of the windshield. It restores the original appearance, helps seal the windshield against water and wind intrusion, and maintains proper glass alignment. Constructed from durable, weather-resistant materials with a corrosion-resistant finish, this molding provides long-lasting protection and an easy direct-fit replacement for compatible vehicles (verify fitment before purchase).
Features:
- OE-style top windshield molding (model WFT D1198) — verify vehicle-specific fitment before purchase.
- Protects windshield bead and seal from water intrusion, wind, and road debris.
- Durable, weather-resistant construction for long-term reliability and UV resistance.
- Corrosion-resistant finish preserves exterior appearance and resale value.
- Designed for straightforward replacement or restoration of worn or damaged molding.
- Direct-fit design reduces installation time and helps maintain factory alignment.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and protect painted surfaces with masking tape under the molding area.
- Carefully remove the old top molding by prying up trim and releasing any retaining clips or screws; save reusable clips if undamaged.
- Clean the windshield channel and surrounding area with isopropyl alcohol to remove adhesive residue, dirt, and debris; allow to dry.
- Inspect the channel and clip locations for rust or damage; replace any broken clips or hardware before installing new molding.
- Test-fit the new WFT D1198 molding along the top edge of the windshield to confirm orientation and alignment.
- If required, apply butyl tape or manufacturer-recommended adhesive to the molding channel or roof flange following adhesive instructions.
- Starting at one end, press the molding into the channel and engage clips or fasteners sequentially along the length until fully seated; use a heat gun on low to help conform the molding in cold conditions.
- Reinstall any removed hardware and trim pieces, then clean the surrounding area and inspect the seal for gaps.
- Allow adhesive to cure per product instructions (typically 24 hours) before driving at highway speeds or exposing to heavy weather.
