This precision molding clip kit is designed for 2-door hardtop models and provides a reliable replacement for windshield and rear window molding retention. The kit (MCK-3440-66) secures trim moldings to the body channels, preventing wind noise, water intrusion, and trim rattle while restoring correct alignment. Durable, corrosion-resistant clips and hardware make it suitable for restoration projects or routine maintenance, offering dependable long-term performance and straightforward installation.
Features:
  • Fits 2-door hardtop models (commonly used on 1964–1966 applications; verify exact year/make/model fitment).
  • Includes clips and hardware tailored for windshield and rear window molding retention.
  • Corrosion-resistant materials provide long-lasting durability and reliable holding power.
  • Prevents wind noise, trim vibration, and water leaks by restoring proper molding alignment.
  • Simple replacement kit ideal for restorations and routine trim repairs; reduces the need for custom fabrication.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30–90 minutes (per window, depending on access and corrosion)
Suggested Tools:
  • Trim removal tool or flat-blade screwdriver
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Phillips and flat-head screwdrivers
  • Rubber mallet or palm hammer
  • Cleaning brush and solvent
  • Protective tape (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, disconnect the battery if working near electrical trim, and protect surrounding paint with tape.
  2. Carefully remove the interior trim and any fasteners securing the windshield or rear window molding; use a trim tool to avoid damage.
  3. Remove old clips and molding from the channel. Note clip locations and orientation as you remove them to replicate during installation.
  4. Clean the channel and mounting surfaces of dirt, old adhesive, and corrosion using a brush and solvent. Allow to dry.
  5. Test-fit new clips along the channel to confirm spacing and orientation. Replace any damaged or bent channels as needed before final installation.
  6. Press or tap new clips into the channel at the original mounting points until fully seated. Use needle-nose pliers for alignment if needed.
  7. Reinstall the molding by aligning it with the clips and pressing firmly until it snaps into place. Use a rubber mallet with a block of wood if gentle persuasion is required.
  8. Reinstall interior trim and fasteners. Inspect the sealing and alignment; perform a water test or road test to confirm there are no leaks or wind noise.
  9. If necessary, make minor adjustments to clip positions or replace any additional clips until the molding fits snugly and evenly.
