Left-hand vent glass weatherstrip designed for VWL 3110 78 applications, providing a secure, weatherproof seal for the vent/window assembly on 1978 Volkswagen vehicles. This OE-style seal keeps water, dust, and road noise out while maintaining correct glass alignment and smooth operation. Molded from durable EPDM rubber for long-lasting flexibility and resistance to UV, ozone, and temperature changes, it restores original fit and function during restoration or replacement projects and is simple to install with basic hand tools.
Features:
- Fits 1978 Volkswagen vent glass, left-hand (VWL 3110 78) applications.
- Molded EPDM rubber construction resists cracking, shrinking, and UV damage.
- Seals vent glass to prevent water intrusion, wind noise, and rattles.
- OE-style profile restores correct glass alignment and smooth operation.
- Easy to install as a direct replacement for worn or brittle seals.
- Ideal for restoration or maintenance of classic Volkswagen vent assemblies.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and roll vent/vent window to a position that allows access to mounting screws and seal edges.
- Remove interior trim or vent hardware as needed (use trim tool to avoid damaging panels).
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: pry out retaining edges and pull the seal free from the channel. Cut away any stuck sections with a utility knife if necessary.
- Clean the channel and surrounding metal with a rag and isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt, and debris. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the vent frame to ensure correct orientation (verify left-hand part).
- Apply a small amount of soapy water or silicone lubricant to the seal edge to ease installation.
- Press the new weatherstrip into the channel starting at one corner and working around the frame. Ensure the seal seats fully into the channel and that any alignment tabs engage correctly.
- Reinstall vent hardware and interior trim. Cycle the vent/window to confirm smooth operation and proper sealing.
- Inspect for gaps or pinched areas. Trim small excess sections if necessary for a perfect fit.
- Allow any lubricant to dissipate before final use. Recheck after a short test drive for continued fit and sealing.
