- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Verify fitment: confirm WFT D1571 matches your vehicle's year/make/model and inspect the molding for correct length and clip pattern.
- Remove the old molding: carefully pry up the existing top molding using a trim tool or taped screwdriver to avoid scratching the paint; remove any retained clips as needed with pliers.
- Clean the channel: remove old adhesive and debris, then wipe the pinch weld and channel with rubbing alcohol; allow to dry fully.
- Prepare clips/adhesive: replace any broken clips with new ones or apply a thin bead of recommended automotive adhesive/sealant where specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Position new molding: align the new top molding along the windshield edge, starting at one end and working across to the other, ensuring the retaining channel seats over the flange.
- Seat the molding: press firmly along the length to engage clips or channel; use masking tape to hold in place if adhesive is used.
- Trim and finish: trim any excess material at the corners if required, remove tape after adhesive sets, and clean the area.
- Test: allow adhesive to cure per product instructions, then check for proper fit and inspect for gaps or leaks after a test wash or light water spray.
