- Precision machined threads and tapered stud for secure, play-free steering connection.
- Ball-and-socket joint restores smooth steering motion and reduces vibration and wandering.
- Direct-replacement part for steering system maintenance, restoration, and suspension repairs.
- Easy to install with basic hand tools; compatible with standard steering linkage hardware.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, chock rear wheels, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and secure on jack stands; remove the front wheel.
- Inspect and note the number of exposed threads and the relationship between the inner and outer tie rod (mark or measure) to preserve alignment during removal.
- Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end nut and let soak if needed.
- Remove the cotter pin (if present) and loosen the castle nut on the tie rod end stud.
- Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or a pickle fork; avoid damaging the knuckle.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod and unthread the outer tie rod end, counting turns or using your measurement to match the replacement position.
- Thread the new left-hand tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the recorded position, then tighten the jam nut to secure.
- Insert the tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, torque the nut to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, torque lug nuts to spec, and perform a professional wheel alignment as soon as possible.
