Outer tie rod end for 1997-1999 Dodge vehicles (right or left hand). This steering component connects the steering knuckle to the inner tie rod and is critical for precise steering, safe handling, and proper wheel alignment. Built to replace worn or damaged originals, the part restores steering responsiveness, reduces play and vibration, and helps maintain even tire wear. Designed for durability and ease of installation, it features a sealed ball joint and robust construction to withstand road stress and corrosion for reliable service life.
Features:
  • Fits 1997-1999 Dodge vehicles (select models) — verify fitment with VIN or OEM part number before purchase.
  • Forged steel housing with a hardened stud for reliable strength under steering loads.
  • Sealed ball joint and rubber boot protect internal components from dirt and moisture.
  • Restores steering precision and corrects excessive play for improved handling and safety.
  • Simple replacement to support alignment restoration and extend tire life.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish for long-term durability in road and weather exposure.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Hydraulic jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Wrench and socket set
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Hammer
  • Penetrating oil
  • Grease gun (if applicable)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and loosen the wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands; remove the wheel to access the tie rod end.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end nut and tapered stud; remove the cotter pin if present and loosen the castle nut.
  4. Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle; avoid striking the knuckle directly to prevent damage.
  5. Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod and count the number of turns required to remove the outer tie rod (or measure thread length) to preserve approximate alignment.
  6. Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod and remove it.
  7. Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod the same number of turns as removed (or to match previous measured length), then tighten the jam nut to secure.
  8. Insert the new stud into the steering knuckle, install and torque the castle nut to the manufacturer’s specification, and secure with a new cotter pin if applicable.
  9. If the part has a grease fitting, apply grease until the boot seats; otherwise ensure the boot is properly seated and sealed.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, torque lug nuts to specification, and perform a professional wheel alignment as soon as possible to ensure proper handling and tire wear.
