Front lower ball joint (with knurling) designed for 2003–2020 Dodge / Ram vehicles to restore proper suspension articulation and steering precision. This heavy-duty replacement ball joint secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, reducing play and preventing premature tire wear. Engineered for durability with a knurled shank for a secure press-fit, corrosion-resistant coating, and a precision-machined stud for smooth movement, it’s an ideal choice for repair, restoration, or routine maintenance to return suspension geometry and handling to factory-like performance.
Features:
- Fits 2003–2020 Dodge / Ram front lower, left or right side applications
- Knurled shank for a secure press-fit into the control arm
- Precision-machined stud and tapered seat for tight steering and reduced play
- Corrosion-resistant finish and durable construction for long service life
- Designed for easy serviceability and direct replacement during suspension repairs
- Helps prevent uneven tire wear and restores proper alignment settings
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60–120 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands; remove the front wheel.
- Spray penetrating oil on the ball joint nut, studs, and knuckle connections and let soak.
- Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castellated nut on the ball joint stud but do not fully remove yet.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork, then remove the nut and push the stud out.
- Unbolt or remove any retaining hardware that secures the lower control arm as required to access the pressed-in ball joint.
- Use a ball joint press with appropriate adapters to press out the old knurled ball joint from the control arm. Clean the control arm bore of rust and debris.
- Align the new knurled ball joint in the control arm bore and press it in squarely using the ball joint press until fully seated.
- Install the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle, tighten the nut to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall any control arm hardware, torque all fasteners to spec, remount the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts.
- After installation, get a professional alignment to ensure proper steering geometry and even tire wear.
