Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, chock rear wheels, loosen front lug nuts while vehicle is on the ground.
- Raise vehicle and support securely on jack stands; remove the front wheel.
- Remove any components blocking access to the lower ball joint (cotter pin, castellated nut, ABS sensor bracket or sway bar link if applicable).
- Loosen and remove the lower ball joint castle nut or retaining fastener but do not fully remove if using a press to separate the joint.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or appropriate press; be careful to avoid damaging the knuckle.
- If the ball joint is pressed into the control arm, use a ball joint press or suitable C-clamp adapter to press out the old joint.
- Clean the control arm bore and inspect surrounding suspension components for wear or damage; replace any worn parts.
- Press the new ball joint into the control arm to the specified depth, ensuring correct orientation for right/left hand application.
- Insert ball joint stud into the steering knuckle, install the castle nut and torque to manufacturer specification; insert new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall any removed components (sway bar link, ABS bracket), torque all fasteners to spec, and re-mount the wheel.
- Lower the vehicle, torque lug nuts to specification and perform a front-end alignment after installation to ensure proper handling and tire wear.
