A precision-cut 74-inch liftgate weatherstrip designed to restore a tight, watertight seal around your vehicle’s rear hatch. Made from durable, weather-resistant elastomer, this seal prevents water intrusion, dust, and wind noise while reducing vibration and wear on the liftgate edge. Ideal for restoration or maintenance projects, it delivers reliable long-term performance and a clean finished appearance with simple installation.
Features:
- Fits 74-inch liftgate openings — universal fit for many cars, SUVs, vans, and trucks.
- Durable EPDM-style rubber resists UV, ozone, heat, and cold for long service life.
- Creates a watertight, dustproof seal to prevent leaks, drafts, and wind noise.
- Reduces vibration and protects paint and metal edges from wear and damage.
- Pre-formed length for easy trimming and installation; suitable for restoration or replacement jobs.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip: open the liftgate and carefully pry out the existing seal using a plastic trim tool to avoid scratching the surrounding paint.
- Clean the mounting channel and mating surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or an appropriate cleaner; allow to dry completely.
- Measure the opening and dry-fit the new 74-inch weatherstrip to confirm fit and orientation; trim any excess length with scissors or a utility knife so the ends meet cleanly.
- If your vehicle requires adhesive, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting channel per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions; some trims are push-fit and do not need glue.
- Starting at one end, press the weatherstrip firmly into the channel, working around the perimeter and ensuring the bulb/compression area seats correctly against the liftgate.
- Use masking tape to hold corners or joints in place while adhesive cures (when applicable). Smooth any creases and check that corners are sealed.
- Allow adhesive to cure as recommended (if used), then test the liftgate by closing it slowly to confirm an even, gap-free seal and proper latch engagement.
- Inspect for any gaps or high spots and make small adjustments or trim as needed for a uniform seal.
