Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and work in a dry, shaded area. Wear gloves to protect the seal and your hands.
- If possible, lower or remove the rear glass per vehicle service manual. If glass removal isn’t required, proceed carefully to avoid damage.
- Use a trim tool and screwdriver to remove any interior trim pieces or clips that obstruct access to the old seal.
- Carefully pry out and remove the old seal. Cut into sections with a utility knife if necessary and remove all remnants from the channel.
- Thoroughly clean the glass edge and channel with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new seal over the glass and into the channel to confirm orientation and fit before applying lubricant or adhesive.
- Apply a light coat of silicone lubricant or soapy water to the seal and glass bead to ease installation. If recommended for your application, apply weatherstrip adhesive sparingly to the channel.
- Starting at one corner, press the seal into the channel and work around the perimeter, ensuring the seal seats fully and evenly. Use a trim tool or your fingers to press the lip into place.
- Trim any excess material if needed, reinstall trim pieces and clips, and re-seat or reinstall the rear glass if it was removed, following the vehicle’s service procedures.
- Allow any adhesive to cure per manufacturer instructions (typically up to 24 hours). Perform a water test and inspect for leaks; readjust if necessary.
