Instructions:
- Work in a dry, shaded area and park the vehicle on level ground. Protect painted surfaces with masking tape where needed.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip and any attached chrome trim. Use a trim tool or screwdriver to disengage body clips—save reusable clips or replace if damaged.
- Clean the flange and channel where the new seal seats. Remove old adhesive and contaminant with isopropyl alcohol; allow to dry.
- Inspect and replace any broken body clips to ensure the chrome trim can properly insert and lock in place.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip around the rear window opening. If the seal is slightly long, trim excess with a utility knife for a precise fit.
- If the seal is a snap-in type, align it with the channel and press the base into the flange, working around the opening and ensuring the chrome trim area aligns with clip locations. Use a rubber mallet gently if needed to seat the seal.
- If adhesive is recommended for your application, apply a thin bead to the flange per adhesive instructions, then press the seal into place until fully seated.
- Reinstall the chrome trim by inserting it into the body clips; verify each clip snaps and holds the trim securely.
- Wipe away any excess adhesive and allow any bonding agents to cure per manufacturer directions before exposing to moisture.
- Check for gaps, proper seating, and confirm there are no leaks after installation by performing a light water test.
