Replacement rear window weatherstrip seal designed for 2-door hardtop models that use chrome trim inserted into body clips. This seal secures the chrome trim, creates a weatherproof barrier to prevent leaks and wind noise, and restores the factory fit and finish around the rear glass. Built from a durable, weather-resistant rubber compound, it resists UV and ozone breakdown for long-term reliability and is shaped to engage existing body clips and trim for an accurate, low-profile installation.
Features:
- Fits 2-door hardtop models that use chrome trim inserted into body clips.
- Durable, weather-resistant rubber compound resists UV, ozone and aging.
- Secures chrome rear window trim and locks the seal into body clips.
- Prevents water intrusion and reduces wind noise for a tighter cabin.
- Designed for restoration and replacement to return factory appearance.
- Simple installation with common hand tools and no special adhesives in most applications.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a flat surface and protect surrounding trim and paint with masking tape or rags.
- Carefully remove the exterior chrome trim and any remaining old weatherstrip; use a trim tool to disengage clips without bending the trim.
- Pull out old seal and remove adhesive residue or corrosion from the channel. Clean the channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the window to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess if necessary with a utility knife.
- Apply a small amount of soapy water or rubber lubricant to the seal to ease installation. If the rubber is stiff, warm it slightly (sun or a hair dryer) to increase flexibility.
- Start at one corner and press the seal into the channel, aligning the flange so it seats into the body clips. Work around the perimeter, using needle-nose pliers to engage clips if needed.
- Reinstall the chrome trim over the new seal, ensuring the trim seats into the seal and clips evenly. Use a rubber mallet gently if required to snap trim into place.
- Inspect the seal for gaps and verify the glass fits correctly. Allow lubricant to dry and perform a water test (hose) to confirm there are no leaks.
