Windshield Self-locking Weatherstrip WCR D647 is a self-locking rubber/vinyl seal engineered for all models except convertibles that use clip-in chrome windshield trim. It secures the windshield edge and chrome trim by locking into factory body clips, providing a watertight, vibration-resistant seal. Designed for restoration and replacement applications, the OEM-style profile maintains correct fitment, long-lasting flexibility, and reliable protection against leaks and wind noise while simplifying installation.
Features:
- Fitment: All models except convertibles (for vehicles using clip-in chrome windshield trim).
- Durable EPDM rubber/vinyl construction resists weathering and UV degradation.
- Self-locking design seats into factory body clips for a secure, rattle-free fit.
- Works with chrome trim that inserts into the seal to restore original appearance.
- Prevents water intrusion and reduces wind noise for improved cabin comfort.
- OEM-style replacement ideal for restoration projects or like-for-like repairs.
- Easy to install with basic trim tools and a lubricant for smoother seating.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Remove the windshield chrome trim and the old weatherstrip carefully using plastic trim tools and a flat-head screwdriver to release clips without damaging the channel or trim.
- Clean the windshield channel, pinch weld, and surrounding area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or automotive cleaner to remove old adhesive, dirt, and corrosion.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the channel to confirm orientation; identify the groove for the chrome trim and the clip-engagement edges.
- Lightly mist the seal and channel with soapy water or a mild lubricant to ease installation—do not use aggressive solvents that can swell the rubber.
- Starting at the center top of the windshield, press the weatherstrip into the channel and work outward toward the corners, using a block of wood and a rubber mallet or your palms to seat the seal into each body clip.
- Once the seal is fully seated, insert the chrome trim into the seal groove, pressing evenly along the length to ensure it locks into the strip and engages the body clips.
- Inspect the entire perimeter for proper seating, trim any excess if required, and allow the seal to set. Re-check after a short drive and reseat any areas that may have shifted.
