This 44-piece rear window molding clip kit is designed for 2-door hardtop models and replaces worn or missing clips that secure the rear glass molding. It restores proper fit and finish, preventing trim rattles, wind noise, and water intrusion. Made for durability and reliable retention, the kit simplifies restoration and maintenance with a full complement of clips for a complete rear window molding replacement.
Features:
- Fits many 2-door hardtop models; verify fitment for your specific year, make, and model before installation.
- Complete 44-piece set provides all clips needed for a full rear window molding replacement.
- Durable molded clips resist corrosion and retain original-style fitment for long-lasting performance.
- Prevents trim vibration, wind noise, and potential water leaks by securely fastening the rear window molding.
- Easy to install replacement clips help restore factory appearance during trim and glass restoration projects.
- Ideal for restorations and routine maintenance to replace brittle or missing original clips.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45–90 minutes
Instructions:
- Confirm kit compatibility with your vehicle and inventory existing clip types and locations before starting.
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and protect interior and exterior surfaces with towels or masking paper.
- Carefully remove the rear window molding: use a plastic trim tool to pry molding away from the body, working slowly to avoid bending or cracking the trim.
- Remove any remaining old clips from the body or molding. Use pliers or a flat screwdriver with caution to extract brittle clips without damaging mounting holes.
- Clean mounting surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or trim cleaner to remove dirt, adhesive residue, and corrosion.
- Compare new clips to the originals to identify correct orientations and mounting positions. Lay out clips in order to speed installation.
- If helpful, lightly wet the clip mounting area or molding channel with soapy water to ease seating. Press each new clip into the body or trim until it snaps or seats fully; use gentle even pressure.
- Reinstall the molding by aligning it with the clips and pressing firmly along its length until all clips engage. Check for secure fit, eliminate gaps, and verify the window molding is flush and free of play.
