Precision Fits MCK-3440-71 is a molding clip kit designed for 2-door hardtop models to secure windshield and rear window trim. The kit provides direct-fit replacement clips that restore factory alignment, reduce rattles and wind noise, and help prevent water intrusion around glass openings. Built from corrosion-resistant metal and durable polymer components, this kit is intended for restoration and maintenance projects where reliable, long-lasting fastening of exterior moldings is required. Easy to install with basic hand tools, it helps achieve a clean, factory-like finish on classic and vintage hardtop vehicles.
Features:
- Fits 2-door hardtop models — verify specific year/make/model fitment before purchase.
- Corrosion-resistant metal and durable polymer construction for long life.
- Secures windshield and rear window moldings to reduce vibration and wind noise.
- Direct-fit replacement clips restore factory alignment and appearance.
- Simple installation for restoration and maintenance projects using basic trim tools.
- Complete assortment sized for windshield and rear window molding locations.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Confirm kit contents and compare new clips to removed/old clips to identify positions.
- Carefully remove the exterior molding using a trim removal tool or flat screwdriver, working slowly to avoid bending the trim or scratching paint.
- Remove any old or damaged clips from the channel and clean the molding channel and trim mounting surface with solvent and a rag to remove dirt, adhesive, and corrosion.
- Position the new clips onto the molding or into the channel as required by the vehicle (some clips mount to the molding, others into the flange); consult any vehicle-specific diagram if available.
- Align the molding with the windshield or rear window flange and press firmly so each clip engages and snaps into the roof/patch panel channel — use a soft mallet for stubborn areas, tapping gently.
- Work along the molding length, seating each clip and ensuring consistent fit and spacing; trim or replace any excess material as needed.
- Re-check the molding alignment and ensure there are no gaps, then reinstall any interior trim or weatherstripping removed during disassembly.
- Inspect for secure fit, test for wind noise or movement, and allow any cleaned surfaces to fully dry before final use.
